Albums you should own whether you like it or not: The Kinks- Muswell Hillbillies Paul McCartney- Ram Neutral Milk Hotel- In the Aeroplane Over the Sea a little blues or jazz to pretend you're cool and cultured, which you mostly just listen to when other people are around (early country can be a substitute if necessary) Joanna Newsom- Milk-eyed Mender Tom Waits- Bone Machine or Rain Dogs Belly- Star (yes, I know, I'm the only one that thinks so) Silver Jews- American Water Talking Heads- Stop Making Sense as much Modest Mouse as your significant other can stand some new hip indie band that you wave around like a flag in order to justify why you spend all of your free time and some of your work hours writing music reviews (ex. arcade fire, broken social scene, the shins, spoon) and a little something to get the party started (preferably something with funk in its trunk) |
