They're baaaack! It seems like forever, but it was only since the year of 1999 that H20 put out F.T.T.W. We have been waiting ever since for the new material. I must say, I wasn't sure what to expect, since this is their debut on a major label, but nothing but love for my friends of the great city of New York. Nothing but the good old sound that got them where they are today. All I hear is the total bullshit excuse that, get this, H20 are "sellouts" because of the major label deal. Do you want to know my opinion on that matter? Well if you don't, then go to www.nsync.com, because you are a complete moron and don't deserve to be here in the first place. Why does anyone start a band? Yes, first off to have fun, but also to make money! The majors came to them, they didnt go to the majors. How does this effect you? You are still going to get the album and go to the shows, and deep inside, like these guys because you know that they have talent and are now legends of a scene that is shunned by the media. H20 has the sound that people want right now, and are giving it their all along the way. They are all about staying to their roots, which is having fun and making music they love. The opportunity came to them, and they grabbed hold, which was the smart decision. Their style hasn't changed all that much, just the way album to album goes. Sound changes in time with maturity and new experiences. GO is the straight up NY hardcore sound that H20 has had since 1995 with their debut S/T album on Blackout records. This album is about respect, friendships, love, and loyalty; just like the rest of their discography. Just when you think that it is nearly impossible to add more sing-alongs and melodies to an H20 album, they add more than you can imagine! The album starts off with "Role Model", which has the classic sound that started it all, sing-alongs, melodies, and dance parts. The 5th song, "Memory Lane", is in my opinion the best track on the album. This is a song that sounds very personal, but one we all can relate to... remembering the past. It is of the more melodic songs, and the one that sticks in your head the longest. Don't get me wrong, this is still a hardcore album, alot of fast parts, chants, and old fashioned fun. There is a hidden track, one of the greatest cover songs that I have heard in recent memory, and only these guys could pull it off. It is of Madonna's, YES I said that evil M word, Madonna's "Like A Prayer". It starts out slow, like the original, then BOOM hard ass drums, bass, and guitars. This song lets you rock out to a song that you never thought you could to. I never thought that anyone could make a circle pit out of a friggen Madonna song. The one thing I must say about this song, is that it is at least twice as good live than on the album. But then again, H20 are legendary for their live show. It is highly recommended to catch them live. Welcome to the majors boys, and I already want another album!
